We know Daniel.

In 2022, when our lovely Jonesville neighborhood was threatened by overdevelopment, I was looking for a leader that I could work with to preserve our history, our creeks, our quality of life. I found that leader in Daniel Anthony and together we formed the Jonesville Preservation Society.

~Kelly LeBlanc

He is tireless in fighting for what is right for his community and has taken EVERY opportunity to truly listen to and hear each and every diverse group within Ward 1 to ensure he is coming to fair, balanced and mutually beneficial resolutions.  Those qualities make him invaluable to a community, especially one as eclectic as Ward 1.  Dan represents long-term residents, native islanders and newcomers alike to protect their rights.

~Lori Surlak

For years now no one has represented Ward 1 in a way that is intimate for the homeowners or property owners.  No one has gotten ahead of developers who want to clear cut the woods and cram as many dwelling units allowed.  No one, until now.

Mr. Anthony is a man of action who will take on the hard corps money manipulating greed of big money developers.

~Steven Clark

Dan's work with the Jonesville Preservation Society has been amazing.  Based on what he did for the community, I think he is a strong candidate for Town Council Seat for Ward 1.

We have known Daniel for more than 20 years. It started with his doing odd jobs at our home here in Hilton Head and grew into his taking on a major remodeling of the house more recently.

As a town councilman Daniel will be enthusiastic. energetic and focused.  He will work hard and give his all for the betterment of Hilton Head. He will listen to his constituents as he cares deeply about the future or our island. He is the one to represent Ward 1.

~Joan Longley

I have lived on our island for 41 years. My husband and I chose to make it our home. We raised two sons here. They are adults now and still call Hilton Head home.
Daniel arrived on Hilton head about the same time we did. Like us he made a choice to call at home. He met his wife Dee and together raised three sons. They also call it home. Our boys all went to school together at our Hilton Head schools. They played baseball together and were teammates on the wrestling team. All five boys were born and raised here, homegrown.

We have all seen the growth and changes to Hilton Head, and as with everything change is inevitable. Sometimes the change becomes so invasive that we need people who will protect the land, not exploit it. We all chose not to live behind the gates of a planned community. Daniel wants to protect OUR land for the future children that are homegrown.

Not too long ago, I filled out a survey for the town/chamber. From my perspective, they need to focus on quality, not quantity. Gathering more visitors, building on every parcel of land has reached a tipping point. More is not always more. More is sometimes too much.

What little Gullah land that still exists absolutely must be protected. It is part of the true history of the island. History that should not be marginalized to make room for more visitors, condos and traffic flow.

40 years after Daniel made the choice to call Hilton head home, he is now made a choice to serve and protect it. My experience over the years with Daniel is that he is a man of his word. I choose to stand behind him in his efforts.

I’m writing this letter to offer endorsement of Dan Anthony’s 2024 campaign for Town Council of Hilton Head Island. I’m providing this letter of endorsement because we need people like Dan to fight for our community, our values, and for the citizens of our town.

Dan was instrumental in preserving the community as was intended by the island founders in a challenge to big development in the Jonesville Rd area. We need people like Dan to help fight the special interests that are stripping Hilton Head Island of everything that makes it a beautiful and an enjoyable place to live.

Dan has proved his interest in working with citizens, town leaders, developers, and others to ensure that our community has a voice with Town leadership and that we are represented fairly.

Dan believes in Lowcountry values that have served as the foundation of our community for years; we need more people like Dan to represent us on Town Council.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Daniel Anthony as a candidate for Town Council. I have personally known Daniel for 40 years maintaining a business relationship as well as a personal friendship.

During the disaster of Hurricane Matthew, Daniel was there for me when my house flooded. He came to my aide and assisted me with removing the saturated drywall without hesistgation as a feiend helping out anouther friend. Daniel owns his own business, Absolute Builders, and works alongside his beautiful wife Dee. Daniel and Dee have raised three boys on Hilton Head Island who are now adults living wonderful lives. They have been graced with 4 grandchildren who were all born and raised on Hilton Head Island as well.

In addition to having Daniel as a friend, he also performed many repairs around my home and rebuilt my boat dock on Saw Mill Creek, which is still intact to this day 26 years later. I cannot say enough good things about him.
